As a way of bringing the care industries together, Hampshire Care Council (HCC) organised the ‘Jubilee Competitions’ to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

Care homes were encouraged to take part, with ‘Cake fit for a Queen’ and ‘Best Decorations’ categories to enter. Woodley Grange’s residents were really excited to enter the ‘Cake fit for a Queen’ category.

Mandy Grahamsley, Assistant Head of HCC Care said: “We were blown away by the entrants into our ‘Cake fit for a Queen’ competition.

As always, the judges were particularly looking for involvement of residents and service users with the competition entries. There were so many wonderful and imaginative ideas it was really difficult to choose”.

We are thrilled that Mandy went on to announce that Woodley Grange were joint winners with Westholme. It created such a buzz within the home, as the residents and staff were so pleased with the result.

2^nd Place went to Romsey and Waterside Day Opportunities, where the judges were particularly impressed with the descriptions of the service users’ involvement in every step of making their cake – and 3^rd Place went to Hawthorne Court.

Mandy continued that the winner of the ‘Best decorations’ category was West Street, followed by Hexagon Day Opportunities in 2nd place and Knightwood (Brendon Care) in 3rd place.

Mandy recognised everyone’s contributions by saying: “A big thank you to everyone for their support with the competitions, we will talk about it for a long time to come!”

Woodley Grange’s Manager, Liliana Macieira added: “We are delighted to have won the ‘Cake Fit for a Queen’ competition.’ The residents really enjoyed getting creative and joining in with the Jubilee celebrations. Thank you to HCC for organising the competition and well done to all our residents and staff for their fantastic efforts, you did us proud!”
