This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on someone incredibly special to our Woodley Grange family – Manpreet, who has recently completed her UK nursing qualification and received her Nursing Pin. A huge accomplishment, and one she has worked tirelessly to achieve!
Manpreet has been part of Woodley Grange for just over three years, bringing kindness, dedication, and a gentle warmth to everyone she cares for. But her journey into nursing began long before joining us – all the way back to her childhood.
Where it all began
Manpreet first felt drawn to nursing in 2005, while accompanying her parents to hospital for her mother’s surgery. She remembers watching the nurses caring for her mum with such patience and compassion. Curious, she asked her father who they were waiting for, and when he explained that it was the nurses who were going to look after her mother, something clicked.
What stood out most was the sight of a doctor in a green uniform – a moment that stayed with her.
“When I went home, I told my father that I wanted to wear the green uniform too. He told me I would need to study hard to become a nurse, and from that day onwards, I pictured myself wearing it.”
That early spark soon became a dream. In 2010, she took her first step towards it by beginning her nursing studies at Dr Shyam Lal School of Nursing in India, where she completed a three-year G.N.M diploma.
It wasn’t easy. After just three months, she considered giving up – the course was tough and mentally demanding – but with her father’s constant support and belief in her, she kept going. And it paid off. After qualifying, Manpreet spent five years working as a registered nurse in various hospitals in India, gaining experience, confidence, and an even stronger love for caring for others.
A new chapter in the UK
In October 2021, Manpreet made a brave and life-changing decision to move to the UK and continue her nursing education. She completed her BSc Nursing at Sunderland University, and although the journey came with challenges – especially balancing study with financial pressures and work – she persevered.
Last month, all her hard work came together as she received her UK Nursing Pin.
“I was over the moon. My hard work made me able to stand at the position I deserve today.”
A proud moment for the Woodley Grange family
The whole team at Woodley Grange is incredibly proud of Manpreet and the dedication she has shown throughout her journey. The celebration was emotional, filled with warm smiles, congratulations and happy tears.
“When Rizwan, Loraine and all my colleagues told me they were proud of me, I felt speechless. I want to thank each, and every one of them for supporting me.”
Manpreet is now preparing to begin working as a Registered Nurse here in the UK, and we have no doubt she will continue to shine in her new role – bringing compassion, strength and enthusiasm to her nursing duties every day.
Well done Manpreet – your Woodley Grange family is proud of you. We are honoured to have been part of your journey and cannot wait to see you flourish in this next chapter of your career. Your story is a reminder that dreams, no matter how big, can come true with determination, hard work and heart.
