Bringing the Wedding to Woodley Grange

At Woodley Grange, we believe no special moment should be missed especially when it comes to family celebrations.

Recently, we had the pleasure of helping our resident Joyce experience her granddaughter Nicole’s wedding in a truly unique way. Nicole had married her new husband Rudi just a few weeks earlier, but sadly Joyce had been too unwell to attend the big day. Determined to make sure she didn’t miss out, the family reached out with a wonderful idea: to bring the wedding to Woodley Grange.

Our team got to work transforming the Palmerston Lounge into a beautiful wedding setting, complete with decorations fit for the occasion. The garden was dressed for the day too, creating the perfect backdrop for photos and memories. On the day, Joyce was joined by 14 guests, all dressed in their wedding attire – and an impressive buffet supplied by the family. Other residents were also able to look on and enjoy the celebration, sharing in the joy of the moment.

To make the occasion even more special, some of our staff dressed in wedding clothes too! It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, and love.

The next morning, we received a touching message from Joyce’s daughter:

“Good morning, this is to say a massive thank you to everyone for yesterday. All the decorations, setting up the room and area, tea, getting mum ready, and especially for making the day wonderful for Mum. We all had a special time celebrating and spending time with her. We are very lucky that mum is in such a caring place with exceptional people. Thank you again.”

Moments like these are what make Woodley Grange so special. No effort is too small when it comes to helping our residents and their families make lasting memories.
