Our Easter Love Life Café at Barton, held on Thursday 19th March, was a fantastic afternoon, bringing residents, families and the local community together in support of a meaningful cause.
We were pleased to welcome Sheila and Sandra from New Forest for Ukraine, who spoke about the work they do and where the money they raise goes. Their talk gave everyone a real insight into the difference the charity is making and the importance of continued support.
About New Forest for Ukraine
New Forest for Ukraine is a local charity set up to support people affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. They raise funds and collect essential items, helping to provide practical support to those who need it most. From everyday necessities to handmade clothing and garments, everything they send is put together with real thought and kindness.
During the café, they also shared some of the handmade items that are sent out, which really helped bring their work to life and showed the care that goes into everything they do.
As part of the afternoon, we held an Easter raffle and were proud to raise £100 for the charity. A lovely contribution towards such an important cause. It was great to see so many people getting involved and supporting the fundraiser.
Alongside this, the afternoon had a lovely atmosphere, with 45 guests attending, including 9 of our residents. The team worked really hard to make sure everyone felt welcome, bringing in extra tables and chairs so everyone could be comfortably seated together. The dining room looked beautiful with Easter decorations created by residents
in the lead up to the café and there was plenty to enjoy with homemade cakes and a fun Easter quiz organised by our activities team.
