Staff Spotlight: Bela – From Care to Creating the Perfect Party

At Barton Lodge, our team members bring so much more than their professional skills to the home – they bring their passions, personalities and unique stories. One of those stories belongs to Bela, a dedicated care assistant who also happens to be a talented DJ, who goes by the name of ErikEvents.

Bela’s love of music began early. During school breaks, he would often be found playing songs, and it wasn’t long before a teacher noticed his enthusiasm and gave him the chance to share music with everyone. That small encouragement sparked a passion that has stayed with him for life. Over the past 30 years, he has gone from putting together playlists for friends to DJing weddings, birthdays and events through his business, ErikEvents.

When it comes to music, Bela doesn’t limit himself to a single genre. Instead, each set is built around the people in the room – from classic hits and R&B to house and dance anthems. His goal is always the same: to create the right atmosphere and ensure everyone has a memorable time.

He also sees clear similarities between his work as a DJ and his role at Barton Lodge. “Both are about people,” he explains. “Whether I’m supporting residents or playing a party set, I want everyone to feel happy, included and part of the moment.”

Known for his humour and energy, Bela brings the same qualities to both the dance floor and the care home – telling jokes, encouraging singalongs and lifting spirits. Here at Barton Lodge, we see every day how those talents brighten the lives of residents, helping to create a warm and positive environment.

His story is a wonderful reminder that behind every member of our team is a unique passion, and those passions help make Barton Lodge the special place it is.
