Creativity on Display at the Art Dementia New Forest Exhibition

On Thursday 30th April, two of our residents, June and Pauline, enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Art Dementia New Forest Exhibition in Milford on Sea, accompanied by our Activities Coordinators, Sue and Jenny.

The ladies travelled with Driving Miss Daisy, who, as always, were incredibly kind, engaging and supportive throughout the day. The exhibition was particularly special for June and Pauline, as some of their own artwork was displayed alongside other pieces on show.

Both residents are passionate about art and regularly attend a local art workshop every Monday. Back at Barton Lodge, they are always eager to take part in our arts and crafts sessions, and the team is continually impressed by their creativity and the beautiful artwork they produce.

The exhibition gave June and Pauline the opportunity to admire the work of fellow artists, celebrate their own achievements and spend time doing something they truly enjoy. Their families were delighted that they were able to take part in such a meaningful experience.

Creative activities can play an important role in supporting wellbeing, confidence and self-expression, particularly for people living with dementia. At Barton Lodge, we are proud to encourage residents to continue enjoying their hobbies and interests, both within our home and out in the local community.
