Pat’s Christmas wish comes true

Pat’s Christmas wish comes true

As part of our Wish Maker initiative launched earlier this year, Woodley Grange has granted a special Christmas wish for their resident Pat.

Pat’s wish was to go Christmas shopping to buy gifts for her family. Unfortunately, due to COVID this wasn’t possible, so Woodley Grange decided to bring the shops to Pat!

Thanks to generous donations made by staff, relatives and local Romsey businesses, Woodley Grange were able to host their very own Winter Emporium. Even a till was kindly donated to help create a realistic shopping experience for the residents.

Commenting on Pat’s Christmas wish, Jess and Erica from the Woodley Grange activities team, said; “This year has been a struggle for most of us but especially for people living in care homes, having minimal contact with family and friends and not being able to pop out to the shops or to a café. When we heard that Pat wanted to do shopping for her family, we knew we had to try and make that happen, not just for her but for all the other residents that would benefit from it. We knew actually going shopping was too much of a risk, so we decided to bring the shops to us. We have been blown away with the kindness from everyone who has supported us and helped make this happen, thank you.”

After enjoying her Christmas wish, Pat; said “It’s been really nice to get out, do some shopping and treat my friend to some cake, I’ve loved it!”

On behalf of the team here at Manucourt, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated gifts. Without you, this would not have been possible.

We look forward to granting the next wish!
