We understand that choosing a care home for you or a loved one can sometimes be a difficult task and that you will have many questions. To help, we’ve compiled some of our frequently asked questions below. If you require more advice, please do get in touch with our team.
What type of activities do you organise?
Our dedicated in-house activities team go the extra mile to provide a fun and engaging activities programme, full of varied activities to help nourish mind, body and soul. Our unique approach ensures residents can develop popular pastimes, such as weekly bingo, home baking or gardening, whilst introducing new activities, such as regular exercise classes, card-making and flower arranging.
We tailor our activities to the interests, hobbies and passions of our residents and always take time to celebrate notable occasions and milestones. Our ‘Wish Maker Campaign’ is particularly special, as we arrange specific activities to make our residents’ wishes come true. Visit our Facebook page to

Do residents have to join in during the activities?
Residents can join in with activities as frequently as they want to. We have designed our care homes so our residents can participate in singular or group activities, or relax in tranquil spaces.
Can residents personalise their rooms?
Of course. We welcome residents bringing in personal items from home. We are deeply committed to providing an exceptional environment that fosters a sense of well-being and enables our residents, whatever their ability, to enjoy their surroundings and feel at home.
Can I take my family member or loved one out?
Absolutely. We love hearing about our residents’ outings with their loved ones. All we ask is that you inform us in advance, ideally the day before your planned trip, or first thing in the morning.
How many staff work at night?
Our residents’ well-being and safety are our top priority, so we always ensure we have carers and senior members working throughout the night.
What is the food like? Is there a set menu?
We are very fortunate at our Homes to have very talented chefs, so our residents can enjoy nutritious and delicious choices at every meal. Residents often prefer a hot meal at lunchtime and a lighter option in the evening. However, our chefs can adapt the menu to suit all needs.
How much does care cost and do you accept funding?
Prices at Barton Lodge and Woodley Grange depend on the individual’s needs. We accept both self-funded and local authority-funded residents. Please ask our team for further information.
What’s excluded from your fees?
Certain services and goods which are sourced externally from the home are not included in the fees. For example, highly specialist equipment, newspapers, hair cuts and other similar items or services.
